Genius Gel? Marc Jacobs Super Charged Foundation

There has been a lot of talk about Mr. Wonderful; how he brings out your exuberant, youthful glow, and erases your flaws!

And here he is:
Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super Charged Foundation in Bisque Medium.

The minimalistic, and sophisticated packaging drew me in, but the easy to use pump dispenser sealed the deal.  My infatuation dwindled quickly when I noticed the semi-strong perfume scent.

I was color matched at Sephora, but this looks very orange...

As always when testing, I did not use primer, concealer, or any touch up products. When I used a flat top kabuki brush, a stippling brush, and my fingers, I was left with patchy coverage that was cakey. The best application comes from a liquid foundation brush.

The coverage is light to medium, build-able and does a good job of evening out my skin.

The color looks a little orange, but it does oxidize into a more natural color in a few minutes.

 4 hours Later....
More natural looking color, but you can already see some areas breaking up.

After 8 hours...

More of the foundation has worn off and broken up, leaving my t-zone greasy feeling and blotchy.

Pro's:
sleek packaging
build-able coverage
pump dispenser
conceals pores

Con's:
perfume scent
 irritates my eyes
splotchy
transfers easily
wears off quickly

My eyes burn and itch every time I used this foundation, which is just annoying. I also do not like that there is a fragrance added, while I didn't notice any break outs I still worry what it would do to my skin after long term use.

Break Up!

Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Rimmel London released a new foundation that promises to be "feather light", control shine all day, minimize pores and "blend flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish".

While the packaging doesn't have much sex appeal, it does make a fantastic travel companion and is easy to use. Besides, it is what is on the inside that counts, right?

I always think it's best to give new things a try independently to really know how well you will be treated! So no primer, concealer, or finishing powder!

Freshly Cleansed Face-left   Half product- middle    Full face-right

The texture is just like mousse, dense but light and glides on like a dream. Redness? Covered.

I did notice slight clinging to small dry blemishes, but nothing too noticeable.
Perfect finish, matte and lightweight.

3 hours later                                           8 hours later

Almost half way through the day, still flawless!

Towards the end of the day some redness began to peak through. Still not shiny or greasy feeling!

I'm sure with primer and setting powder/spray this foundation would last through the day. I could also pair this with the stay matte cake powder for touch ups throughout the day.

Pros:
light weight
full coverage
minimizes pores
natural finish
stays matte all day
blends seamlessly
Inexpensive
Tube packaging
mousse texture

Cons:
splotchy at 8 hours
only 8 shades to choose from
no deep shades
clings to dry patches

Definitely a keeper!

Eye Look of the Day: Too Faced a Few of My Favorite Things Pallette

I've been showing neutrals a lot of love lately and thought I'd branch out of my comfort zone and cozy up to some brighter tones.  My paramour? The "Girls night Out" illustration from my A Few of my Favorite Things palette.

The orchid color is gorgeous on its own and would be perfect for a playful daytime look.

Add deep blue in the outer v for some depth.

Add a little shimmer.

Blend, Blend, Blend!

Add winged liner.

 Naughty and Nice. Voila!

I can't wait to experiment again with my new amour more!
